My Story
Judie Thorburn is a student at Brock University, pursuing a degree in Labour Studies with a minor in Business. At age nine, her family moved to Africa, where she first witnessed the realities of global inequalities, and the value of life beyond material wealth. Her childhood was rooted in simplicity, nature, and community, which left a lasting impression on her personal worldview and understanding of life.

After returning to Canada, she was faced with culture shock. As a teenager, Judie experienced objectification and isolation, and observed how North American culture normalizes the sexualization of young girls. This contrast deepened her awareness of societal harm and the silent suffering many young women face.

Over the years, Judie experienced anxiety and depression. In time, God began to speak to her whenever she would seek Him. He brought her a peace she couldn’t find anywhere else and showed her the worth He saw in her. After He healed her, Judie came to believe there was a reason for her past, and an even greater purpose for what she had endured. God opened her eyes to the silent suffering of other women and stirred her heart to act. She changed her path and committed herself to pursuing Social Justice, determined to advocate for those who can’t speak up about the injustices they face. God has led her to find her voice and use it to help others recognize their worth and know that their pain is valid. Her goal is to help others find their voice, rise above their pain, and reclaim the strength this world tries to take from them.
